Ed Kowalewski

Ed Kowalewski has more than 30 years of experience with Empire State Development and Global New York, working as the Director of International Investment Programs for the State of New York. Upon retirement he joined CIBA as a Senior Policy Fellow. He has a proven record of success in effectively encouraging NY-based businesses to enter or expand their activities in international markets. He also has significant experience in attracting foreign economic investment in New York. His broad-based experience includes business development, strategic marketing, leadership, and community/government relations.
In addition to his government experience, Ed has over twenty years of international business experience, including technical/engineering assignments, international sales, business development, market entry strategies, strategic partnering, and contract management assignments. His international business experience includes eight years in the Middle East markets, five years in Asian markets, and five years in European markets. Ed has also ten years of active and reserve military service. His various assignments worldwide helped him develop international skills by requiring interactions with international diplomatic, military & corporate clients. His military career included being a senior technical instructor at the USAF Interceptor Weapons School (Air Force version of TOP GUN).
Ed has a Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies and a Master’s degree in International Business. He also holds a Diploma from George Washington University’s Federal Contracting Program.
